Position Summary:
The Civil Field
Manager is responsible for overall management and implementation of Civil
Maintenance and Construction works for the rehabilitation and development of
HKN Oil Fields, located in north-east Syria.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Performance Expectations:
· Management of civil works to ensure compliance with construction drawings and specifications, including but not limited to concreting, earthworks, roadworks, underground services and fencing
· Management of civils maintenance works – roads, buildings, equipment etc.
· Implement Company’s HSE programme and ensure civil works are performed in accordance with international HSE standards.
· Review and approve method statements, ITPs, schedule, material submittals etc.
· Apply international building and construction standards to the project.
· Apply international techniques and applications.
· Monitor progress and ensure necessary information flow between disciplines to meet project milestones.
· Coordinate with the Civils design team to ensure timely resolution of site queries and clarifications.
· Provide daily/weekly reports to management.
· Develop field training program for nationals in civil construction methodology.
· Competency (Knowledge & Skills) Required:
· Proven civils construction management experience.
· Strong understanding of international building and construction standards and codes.
· Good mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment for civil works
· Ability to perform cost analysis and develop program budgets.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills – ability to interpret construction documents and communicate requirements to others.
· Project scheduling using MS Projects or Primavera
· Tender technical and commercial evaluation.
· Understanding of materials testing and evaluation.
· Contract negotiations and budget updates.
· Understanding 3D surveying, data acquisition and testing systems.
· Understanding of the latest innovations in civil equipment and products.
· Best Management Practices with regard to the environment.
· Ensure work is performed safely for the civil team, community and end users.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Qualifications Expected / Required:
· Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Engineering, Construction Management or related Sciences. Alternative qualification(s) plus proven relevant experience may be considered in lieu of BSc.
· Advanced training in Construction Quality Control and Safety
· Computer literate – proficient in the use of software such as MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat etc.
· Skilled in scheduling and estimating software.
· Fluent in English
Experience Expected / Required:
· Minimum 10 years of Civil Construction management and implementation in the energy sector.
· Managed construction work that exceeds $10M (USD) in value.
· Managed civils construction works for multiple phases of ONG projects.
· Experience of managing civils construction projects in the Middle East. Previous experience in Syria is a plus.
Other Relevant Competency Requirements:
· The Civils Field Manager is responsible for day-to-day management of all civil field activities including HSE, quality control and schedule control.
· The Civils field team reports directly to the Civils Field Manager
